Is an air cooled or water cooled ice machine better?

Neither is better in every situation. Air cooled machines suit most venues because they are cheaper to buy, simple to install and use little water. Water cooled machines suit hot or poorly ventilated spaces where an air cooled unit would struggle.

Do water cooled ice machines use a lot of water?

They can. A single pass water cooled machine sends condenser water to the drain and may use many times more water than the ice it makes. Connecting to a closed loop system greatly reduces water use, so check local water rules before choosing this type.

Where should I install an air cooled ice machine?

Install it in a well ventilated area away from ovens, fryers and other heat sources, with the clearances the manufacturer specifies around the vents. Hot, enclosed spaces reduce ice output and shorten the life of the compressor.

Can I spread the cost of a commercial ice machine?

Many venues prefer to spread the cost of new equipment rather than pay upfront. Contact our team to talk through payment options that may suit your business, and we can help you compare models and cooling types.

How much does a commercial ice machine cost to buy and run?

Purchase price depends on output, ice type and cooling system, with water cooled and remote units usually costing more to buy and install. Running cost depends on electricity and water use per 100 kilograms of ice. Contact us for current pricing including GST.
